P.S. Thanks for your opinions but...

you can keep them to yourself.

Seriously, I am proud and thankful to have friends and acquaintances who have such strongly held beliefs that they feel they need to preach about them. But, the bottom line is that we will be cloth diapering, breastfeeding, vaccinating, and giving birth in a hospital.

I get that you want/had a homebirth, don't take your kids to doctors, think cloth diapering is a pain in the butt, and grew up on formula and turned out absolutely fine (so did I), but I don't care.

Please rest assured that I have spent the past eight plus months doing research on each of these options (and many, many more) and we are very comfortable with our decisions. A Ricky Lake documentary is not going to change my mind, and neither is your eye-rolling. And, if you tell me again that I'll wish I'd listened to you once I have the baby I will delete you from my facebook, ignore your text messages, and stop sending you our glorious and glittery Christmas cards.

That is all.

Ha, don't you love it? I am 33 weeks pregnant-I will be using disposable diapers (and killing the earth in the process), using formula (feeding my baby pure poison, obviously), giving birth in a hospital with an epidural (some more poison), and vaccinating (even more poison). I've heard it only gets worse once you actually have the baby!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets it. I hate that I manage to keep my mouth shut even though non-vaccinators make me very mad, but they can't possibly keep their stupid opinions to themselves.

Geez I can't believe people think they have the right to tell you what you should do. Sorry you have had to deal with that! I don't know how many times I have had to bite my tongue when people feel the need to tell me I shouldn't be vaccinating my kids! Good luck and hope whoever is doing this will learn to keep their mouths shut!

People are idiots.

You're absolutely right, you have every right to care for your child how you deem best. Given the fact that you are not among the masses of morons that can't even take care of themselves - let alone a helpless child, whatever you choose is going to be just fine!

However, no matter how competent a mother/father may be, no matter how many home births have gone off without a hitch, it really does take an absolute selfish jackass to risk bringing a child into this world without access to professional medical help. My wife and first daughter would have died if we opted for that with number one, and our second daughter would have died if we tried with number two. My wife is a NICU nurse, she knows first hand the kinds of complications that can happen without warning during childbirth.

Anyone who is willing to take that risk, probably shouldn't be procreating.

Anyway, I'm sure no matter how many people you hear agree with you, it probably doesn't make up for all the others you have to listen to that don't agree with you. Sorry.

Don't you love it? DH and I just found out we are expecting, and have not really told anyone yet, but I am waiting for another round of heartless mother comments when I discuss our plans for daycare. I actually had someone tell me that it was pointless for us to want a child if all we were going to do was let someone else raise it! Ughghg. Even if you do the same thing someone else does, they still have snide comments to make.

Kudos to you for standing up for yourself :) I am sure you & your DH made the best plans for your family. That's all anyone can do.

Bottom line. When you are pregnant, you are more emotional than at any other time in your life. Rightly so, You are pregnant for God sakes. Hormones are at their peak. People should be more considerate, but in reality they are more awful and feel that it is their obligation to spread their own thinking with you. Don't listen to them. You are a smart mother and do the research and you will make great parents who's decisions are right for you. It won't be how I did it or anyone else for that matter, but it will be right for you. Take pride in your intelligence, you will all do fine. Mom
